This mango almond butter smoothie started on a warm summer morning when I needed a smoothie to help keep me cool — and also needed to take my vitamin D.

Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means your body absorbs it best when you take it with fat. I’d known this for a while, and I’d gotten into the habit of making sure I had something with healthy fat when I took my supplement. A smoothie with almond butter was the obvious solution on a hot morning.

I added frozen mango and some coconut water to my NutriBullet cup — I needed to use the coconut water up before the expiration date. Then I went to the pantry to see what else I had. As I reached for a banana, I spotted a jar of almond butter on the shelf.

During the hotter months, I buy almond butter rather than making my own — I can easily make it, but who wants to turn the oven on when it’s already warm? I added a small banana and about 1½ tablespoons of almond butter. Then, to make it more nutritious, I added a tablespoon of ground flaxseed for some omega-3s.

I genuinely wasn’t sure what to expect.

It was really good. Creamy, tropical, naturally sweet — and thick enough to feel like a real meal rather than just a drink. This mango almond butter smoothie is now one I make often.

Jump to…

Why This Mango Almond Butter Smoothie Works for MS

Why Every Ingredient Earns Its Place

A Note on Almond Butter Labels

Easy Ways to Make It Your Own

Common Questions

Recipe

🥤 More Smoothies You’ll Love

📌 Love this Mango Almond Butter Smoothie?

Why This Mango Almond Butter Smoothie Works for MS

This smoothie does something most fruit smoothies don’t — it delivers healthy fat alongside the fruit, which matters more than people realize.

For people with MS, vitamin D levels are critically important. Vitamin D plays a role in immune regulation, and deficiency is significantly more common in people with MS than in the general population. Most MS management protocols include vitamin D3 supplementation — but taking it without fat means your body absorbs far less of it than the label suggests. This is the vitamin D I take – it’s important to get tested first.

A smoothie with almond butter and coconut water provides exactly the kind of healthy fat that supports absorption. Taking your vitamin D supplement alongside this mango almond butter smoothie is a simple, practical habit that can make your supplement more effective every single day.

Want to go deeper on vitamin D and MS? My Vitamin D and MS: Why “Normal” Isn’t Good Enough guide covers the optimal vitamin D range for MS, exactly how much to supplement, and what to do when your doctor won’t order the right test. Just $3.99 — instant download.

🌿 Healing Tip:

Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin, meaning it requires dietary fat to be absorbed properly. A PubMed study confirmed that vitamin D3 absorption is significantly greater when taken with a meal containing fat compared to a fat-free meal. Almond butter and coconut water in this smoothie provide exactly the kind of healthy monounsaturated fat that supports absorption. If you take a daily vitamin D3 supplement — which most people with MS do — having it with this smoothie rather than with water alone may meaningfully improve how much your body actually uses.

Why Every Ingredient Earns Its Place

Frozen mango: The base flavor of this smoothie and the reason it tastes tropical. Mango is rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, and folate — nutrients that support immune function and reduce oxidative stress. Frozen mango also gives the smoothie its thick, almost creamy texture without needing dairy or added sugar. I keep a large bag in the freezer.

Banana: A small banana adds natural sweetness, potassium, and the body that makes this smoothie feel thick. Ripe bananas blend more smoothly and taste sweeter — if yours has a few brown spots, that’s the one to use. I freeze older bananas, not quite overripe, in individual bags, so I always have one ready. It also makes the smoothie cold without needing ice.

Almond butter: This is what makes the mango almond butter smoothie work as a vitamin D vehicle. Almond butter adds healthy monounsaturated fats, plant-based protein, magnesium, and vitamin E. It also makes the smoothie thick and creamy in a way that no fruit alone can achieve. Start with 1½ tablespoons and adjust to your preference — more gives a nuttier, richer result.

🌿 Healing Tip:

Almonds and almond butter are one of the best dietary sources of vitamin E, a fat-soluble antioxidant that plays an important role in immune function and nerve health. Vitamin E has been studied for its potential neuroprotective effects, and deficiency has been associated with neurological symptoms. For people with MS, getting vitamin E through whole food sources like almond butter — rather than supplements — is the preferred approach, since it comes packaged with fiber, healthy fats, and magnesium that work together rather than alone.

Coconut water: The liquid base that keeps everything moving in the blender without watering down the flavor. Coconut water adds natural electrolytes — particularly potassium — that support hydration and nerve function. It also adds a subtle tropical sweetness that leans into the mango flavor beautifully. If you don’t have coconut water, plain water works fine.

Ground flaxseed: One tablespoon goes in, and you won’t taste it. Ground flaxseed is one of the richest plant sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which have well-documented anti-inflammatory effects on the central nervous system. It also adds soluble fiber that feeds beneficial gut bacteria. I keep a batch pre-ground in a glass jar in the refrigerator — always ready to scoop. I have a full post about the benefits of flaxseeds for MS if you’d like to read more.

A Note on Almond Butter Labels

Not all almond butters are the same — and this is worth knowing before you shop.

Some brands add ingredients like organic cane sugar, palm oil, or preservatives. Even when the sugar is labeled “organic,” it’s still sugar, and it will spike your blood sugar in the same way. The ingredient list on your almond butter should say one thing: almonds. Some add a small amount of sea salt, which is fine.

Always read the label. If there’s anything on the list beyond almonds and possibly sea salt, put it back.

I make my own almond butter during the cooler months. During summer, I buy it — because turning the oven on when it’s already warm isn’t something I want to do. Either way, the ingredient standard stays the same. I buy the Kirkland Creamy Almond Butter from Costco — you can find clean almond butter on Amazon like this one.

Easy Ways to Make It Your Own

Add spinach. A small handful blends in completely invisibly — the mango color hides it entirely — and adds folate, magnesium, and iron without changing the flavor at all.

Add frozen cauliflower rice. A small handful adds cruciferous vegetables and extra creaminess without any detectable cauliflower flavor. I wrote about why I add cauliflower rice to smoothies in my cauliflower rice post.

Add fresh ginger. A thumbnail-sized piece adds a clean, bright heat and additional anti-inflammatory benefits. Ginger and mango are a natural pairing.

Use more or less almond butter. 1½ tablespoons is my starting point. More gives a nuttier, richer flavor and more fat — useful if you’re taking your vitamin D supplement with this smoothie. Less gives a lighter result that’s more fruit-forward.

Swap coconut water for almond milk. If you don’t have coconut water, unsweetened almond milk works beautifully. I use Califia Farms Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk — just water, organic almonds, and sea salt. Check the label on whatever brand you buy; some have a surprisingly long ingredient list. You can also make your own — I have a homemade almond milk recipe that uses just almonds and water.

Common Questions

Can I use fresh mango instead of frozen? Yes, but the texture will be thinner. If you use fresh mango, add a few ice cubes and blend until completely smooth. Frozen mango is what gives this smoothie its thick consistency, so if you have the option, frozen is worth it.

Should I use whole or ground flaxseed? Always ground. The outer hull of whole flaxseed is too hard for your body to break down during digestion, which means the omega-3s pass through largely unabsorbed. A small coffee grinder like this one works perfectly — grind a small batch and store it in a glass jar in the refrigerator. I like to grind enough to last one week.

Can I make this ahead of time? This smoothie is best fresh. For easy prep, portion the frozen ingredients into individual freezer bags and store them in the freezer. When you’re ready, everything goes straight from the bag into the blender.

Is this good for taking vitamin D? Yes — that’s exactly how this recipe started. Take your vitamin D3 supplement right before or with this smoothie. The healthy fat from the almond butter and coconut water supports absorption significantly better than taking it with water alone.

Is this smoothie good during a flare? Yes. It requires minimal effort, produces one cup to wash, and delivers anti-inflammatory ingredients, healthy fat, protein, and real nourishment in a cold glass. On hard days, that’s exactly what you need.

I’ll be honest — I wasn’t sure about this one.

I’ve made plenty of green smoothies over the years, and most of them taste exactly like what they are: a blender full of vegetables with something sweet added to make them drinkable. Fine, but sometimes it’s not something I looked forward to.

This MS-friendly green smoothie is different.

It came to me because the ingredients were things I needed to get rid of in the fridge. When I made it the first time, I was genuinely surprised. It’s bright — not sweet, not earthy — with a clean flavor that’s hard to place until you remember there’s fresh lemon and ginger in there. You can taste the cucumber slightly, but it’s mild rather than overpowering. What you notice most is the creaminess, which comes entirely from the avocado.

My husband tried it and added ice cubes partway through blending, which made the pitcher almost overflow — more on that in the instructions. The lesson there is to add ice early, before the spinach and cucumber take up all the space.

It’s become a regular in our rotation, and I think it will be in yours too.

Jump to…

Why This MS-Friendly Green Smoothie Works

Why Every Ingredient Earns Its Place

Easy Ways to Make This MS-Friendly Green Smoothie Your Own

Blender Tips

Common Questions

Recipe

🧩 Still Trying to Figure Out Your MS Symptoms?

📌 Love this MS-Friendly Green Smoothie?

Why This MS-Friendly Green Smoothie Works

A green smoothie earns a place in an MS management routine when it does more than just deliver vegetables. This one combines anti-inflammatory ingredients, healthy fats for nutrient absorption, plant-based protein, and real hydration — all in a single glass that takes about five minutes to make.

It also asks very little of you. No cooking, no chopping beyond cutting the cucumber and apple, and only one thing to wash afterward. On the days when fatigue makes everything harder, that matters.

Why Every Ingredient Earns Its Place

Baby spinach: A large, loose handful — about ¾ cup unpacked — goes into this smoothie, and you won’t taste it at all. The avocado and lemon completely mask the flavor. What you’re left with is a smoothie that contains folate, magnesium, vitamin K, and iron without any of the grassy taste people expect from a green smoothie. If you’re new to spinach in smoothies, this recipe is the one that will convert you.

Cucumber: Half a cucumber adds mild flavor and significant hydration. Cucumber is about 96% water, which makes it one of the most efficient hydration ingredients you can add to a smoothie. The flavor comes through slightly — bright and clean rather than vegetable-forward — and it keeps the smoothie light rather than heavy.

🌿 Healing Tip:

Staying well hydrated is one of the most impactful and frequently overlooked strategies in MS management. Dehydration can worsen fatigue, increase bladder urgency, and impair cognitive function — symptoms that people with MS are already managing carefully. A smoothie built on hydrating ingredients like cucumber is a genuinely pleasant way to support hydration every day.

½ green apple: Half a Granny Smith or similar tart green apple adds just enough natural sweetness to balance the lemon without tipping the smoothie into dessert territory. Green apples are also a source of quercetin, a flavonoid with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and pectin, a soluble fiber that feeds beneficial gut bacteria.

½ avocado: This is what makes the smoothie creamy. Half an avocado blends into a thick, smooth texture that feels more like a proper drink than a thin vegetable juice. Avocado is rich in monounsaturated fats — the same type found in olive oil — which support cardiovascular health and, importantly, help your body absorb the fat-soluble vitamins in the spinach and other ingredients.

🌿 Healing Tip:

Fat-soluble vitamins — including vitamins A, D, E, and K — require dietary fat to be absorbed properly. Adding avocado to a green smoothie isn’t just about creaminess. It’s a practical strategy that significantly increases how much nutrition your body actually absorbs from the other ingredients in the glass. This is especially relevant for people with MS, where vitamin D status and anti-inflammatory nutrient absorption are central concerns.

Fresh lemon juice: The juice of one lemon is what makes this smoothie taste bright rather than flat. Lemon adds vitamin C, which supports immune regulation and enhances iron absorption from the spinach. It also lifts every other flavor in the blender — without it, the smoothie would taste noticeably duller.

Fresh ginger: A thumbnail-sized piece adds a clean, subtle warmth at the back of the sip without dominating the flavor. Ginger is one of the most well-researched anti-inflammatory foods available, and it works particularly well with lemon and cucumber.

🌿 Healing Tip:

Gingerol, the active compound in fresh ginger, has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines — signaling proteins involved in the chronic low-grade inflammation that plays a central role in MS. A small amount daily may contribute to a meaningful reduction in systemic inflammation over time. Fresh ginger is more potent than dried, so it’s worth keeping a piece in your freezer for easy use.

Hemp seeds: About 1 tablespoon blended in adds plant-based protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and a subtle creaminess without any detectable flavor. Hemp seeds are one of the few plant sources that contain all essential amino acids, making them an easy and complete protein addition to any smoothie. I buy the Whole Foods 365 brand from Amazon.

Easy Ways to Make This MS-Friendly Green Smoothie Your Own

Add frozen cauliflower rice. A small handful blends in completely invisibly and adds cruciferous vegetables without changing the flavor at all. This is one of my favorite ways to quietly increase vegetable variety.

Add ground flaxseed. One tablespoon adds omega-3s and soluble fiber. You won’t taste it.

Add more apple if you prefer it sweeter. The half apple keeps this smoothie on the bright, savory side. If you want a little more sweetness, use the whole apple or add a few chunks of frozen pineapple.

Swap lemon for lime. Both work well. Lime gives a slightly more tropical result.

Add a handful of frozen mango. This sweetens the smoothie and shifts it in a more tropical direction while keeping all the green vegetable nutrition intact.

Blender Tips

This smoothie is thick and creamy — which is exactly what makes it good, but it also means your blender needs a little help.

Add ingredients in this order to get the best result:

Liquid (water) first — start with about 8 oz and add more as needed

Spinach and cucumber next

Ice cubes

Remaining ingredients — apple, avocado, ginger, lemon juice, hemp seeds

Adding ice before the soft ingredients gives the blender something to work with and prevents the pitcher from overfilling. Start blending after the ice to compact everything down before adding the avocado and apple.

Because the avocado makes this smoothie very thick, plan to add water gradually — somewhere between 10 and 14 oz total, depending on your blender and how thick you like it. Add a little at a time and blend between additions until it reaches a consistency you can drink through a straw.

Common Questions

Will I taste the spinach? No. The lemon, ginger, and avocado completely mask the spinach flavor. The color is green, but the taste is bright and mild.

Can I use bottled lemon juice? Fresh is better here because the brightness is central to what makes this smoothie taste good. If you keep a small jar of pre-squeezed lemon juice in the fridge, it’s just as easy as bottled and noticeably better.

Can I make this ahead? Green smoothies are best fresh because the avocado can oxidize and the color can darken. If you want to prep ahead, portion the dry and frozen ingredients into a bag and keep it in the freezer. Add the avocado, lemon, and water fresh when you’re ready to blend.

What if my blender struggles with it? Add more water, a little at a time, and blend between additions. High-speed blenders handle this smoothie easily, but a standard blender may need an extra few ounces of water to keep things moving. Starting with the liquid at the bottom and ice in the middle helps significantly.

Can I drink this during a flare? Yes — especially if you prep the ingredients ahead of time, so blending is the only step. The ingredients are hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and easy to digest, which makes this a good choice on hard days.

This MS-friendly mango smoothie started the way the best recipes do — completely by accident. I saw a simple recipe on the back of a bag of frozen mango and thought: That sounds exactly like what I need right now. Mango, coconut water, and lime. Simple, tropical, bright.

But I couldn’t leave it alone.

I knew I could make it more nourishing without losing what made it so appealing in the first place. So I started adding things — quietly, carefully — one ingredient at a time. A small handful of spinach. A thumbnail of fresh ginger. A tablespoon of ground flaxseed. And every time, the smoothie still tasted like a tropical vacation. Still sunshine and lime and something cold and creamy. Still something I actually wanted to drink.

That’s the thing about this recipe. The nutrition is there, but the mango doesn’t let you taste it.

Jump to…

Why This MS-Friendly Mango Smoothie Works

Why Every Ingredient Earns Its Place

Easy Ways to Make This Smoothie Your Own

Common Questions

Why This Recipe Has Earned a Permanent Place in My Routine

Recipe

Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie for MS

🧩 Still Trying to Figure Out Your MS Symptoms?

Why This MS-Friendly Mango Smoothie Works

Managing MS naturally means making food choices that reduce inflammation, support the gut-brain axis, and give you real, usable energy — without demanding more of you than you have on a given day. This smoothie does all of that in about three minutes of hands-on time.

There’s no chopping, no cooking, and no pile of dishes to face afterward. Everything goes in the blender in a specific order (more on that in the steps), and you’re done before the fatigue has a chance to talk you out of it.

Why Every Ingredient Earns Its Place

Frozen mango: Mango is the heart of this smoothie — and it’s doing more than just tasting incredible. It’s rich in vitamin C and beta-carotene, both of which support immune function and reduce oxidative stress. Frozen mango also gives the smoothie a thick, almost creamy texture without needing dairy or banana. I keep a large bag in the freezer at all times.

Coconut water: Coconut water is the liquid base here, and it’s a natural fit for MS management. It’s rich in electrolytes — particularly potassium — which supports hydration, nerve function, and muscle health. It also adds a subtle natural sweetness that leans into the tropical flavor rather than fighting it. Plain water works if you don’t have it, but coconut water makes this smoothie taste intentional.

Fresh lime juice: A squeeze of lime does two things: it brightens every other flavor in the glass, and it adds vitamin C, which supports immune function and helps your body absorb iron from the spinach. I keep a small jar of pre-squeezed lime juice in the fridge — on the hard days, it means I don’t have to stop and juice anything.

Baby spinach: Here’s the ingredient most people are skeptical about — and the one that surprises them every time. Mango is powerful enough to hide the taste of spinach almost completely. What you’re left with is a slightly deeper green color and a smoothie that now contains folate, magnesium, and vitamin K — nutrients that support nerve function, reduce inflammation, and feed your beneficial gut bacteria. Start with a small handful if you’re new to it. You can always add more over time.

Fresh ginger: Just a small piece — about the size of your thumbnail. Ginger is one of the most well-researched anti-inflammatory foods available, and it happens to love the combination of mango and lime. It gives the smoothie a clean, bright heat at the back of the sip that makes the whole thing taste more vibrant and alive. If you’ve never added ginger to a fruit smoothie, this one will convert you.

🌿 Healing Tip:

Gingerol, the active compound in fresh ginger, has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines — signaling proteins involved in the chronic low-grade inflammation that plays a role in MS. A small daily amount may contribute to a meaningful reduction in systemic inflammation over time.

Ground flaxseed: One tablespoon goes in, and you’ll never know it’s there. Flaxseed is one of the richest plant sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which have well-documented anti-inflammatory effects on the central nervous system. It also adds soluble fiber that supports gut motility and feeds your beneficial gut bacteria. I keep a batch pre-ground in a glass jar in the fridge, ready to scoop.

Easy Ways to Make This Smoothie Your Own

One of the things I love most about this MS-friendly mango smoothie is how forgiving it is. Once you have the base, you can layer in extras depending on what you have and how you’re feeling. Any of these additions blends in almost invisibly:

Frozen cauliflower rice adds creaminess and extra vegetables without a hint of cauliflower flavor. It thickens the texture in a way that feels more like a smoothie bowl.

Chia seeds thicken the smoothie slightly and add fiber and minerals. Let it sit for two or three minutes after blending, and they’ll soften beautifully.

Hemp seeds are mild and creamy, and they add protein and healthy fats that help keep you fuller longer.

Frozen pineapple doesn’t add significant extra nutrition, but it’s a great tool. If you’re adding extra vegetables and the smoothie tastes less sweet than you’d like, a few pineapple chunks will bring it right back.

Fresh mint makes the whole thing taste refreshingly spa-like without adding anything that competes with the mango. This was actually in the original recipe I adapted — This first time I made it, I left it out because I didn’t have any, and I’ve never felt like the smoothie was missing it. But if you love mint with tropical fruit, it’s a lovely addition.

Cucumber is the invisible hydration booster. It blends almost flavor-free and keeps the smoothie light and cool.

Staying well hydrated is one of the most impactful and overlooked tools in MS management. A smoothie made with coconut water and cucumber is a genuinely delicious way to make sure you’re getting enough.

Common Questions

Can I use fresh mango instead of frozen? Yes, but the texture will be thinner. If you use fresh mango, add a few extra ice cubes and blend until completely smooth. Frozen mango is what gives this smoothie its thick, creamy consistency, so if you have the option, frozen is worth it.

Can I use whole flaxseed instead of ground? Technically, yes, but your body won’t absorb the omega-3s nearly as well. The outer hull is too tough to break down during digestion. Grinding them first — even a small batch in a coffee grinder stored in a glass jar — makes a meaningful nutritional difference.

I use a coffee grinder similar to this one: BLACK+DECKER One Touch Coffee Grinder

Can I make this ahead of time? This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh, but if you want to prep ahead, you can portion out the dry and frozen ingredients into bags or containers and keep them in the freezer. When you’re ready, everything goes straight from the bag into the blender. On a difficult day, that’s a meaningful shortcut.

What if I don’t have coconut water? Plain water works perfectly well. The smoothie will lose a little of its natural sweetness and some of the electrolyte benefit, but the flavor is still bright and tropical. You could also use a splash of 100% orange juice to bring back the sweetness.

Can I drink this during a flare? Yes — this is one of my most-reached-for recipes on hard days. It requires almost no effort, produces almost no dishes, and gives your body anti-inflammatory ingredients, electrolytes, and real nourishment. It’s also cold, which many people with MS find cooling and soothing during a flare.

Why This Recipe Has Earned a Permanent Place in My Routine

There’s a version of healthy eating that asks a lot of you — the elaborate smoothie bowls, the long ingredient lists, the prep work that takes longer than the meal itself. This MS-friendly mango smoothie is the opposite of that.

It asks almost nothing of you. And it gives you mango, coconut water, lime, greens, ginger, and omega-3s in a single cold glass that tastes like something you’d order on a beach.

On the days when MS makes everything harder, that matters. A lot.

If you try it, I’d love to know what you think. Did you keep it simple, or did you add something from your fridge that made it even better? Leave a comment below — I read every single one.

If you love pumpkin pie but want something lighter and healthier, this Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is the perfect choice. It’s creamy, cozy, and tastes just like a slice of pumpkin pie in a glass.

The best part? It only takes 10 minutes to make. I use pumpkin puree for convenience, and you can choose your favorite nut milk, such as almond, coconut, or even oat milk. No complicated steps, just simple ingredients you probably already have.

Why Pumpkin Is So Good for You

Pumpkin isn’t just for pies. It’s packed with antioxidants that fight oxidative stress (the stuff that makes your body feel worn down). It also has anti-inflammatory and brain-protective properties, which may help calm inflammation and support brain health. That’s especially good news if you’re focusing on keeping your body strong and your mind sharp.

Plus, pumpkin is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber—all the good things your body needs this season.

A study published on NCBI found that pumpkin extract (Cucurbita pepo) showed neuroprotective effects in a model of multiple sclerosis, helping reduce oxidative stress and protect nerve cells. Read the study here.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie Recipe

This recipe is super easy to make. The only thing you’ll need to plan ahead is the banana—make sure it’s frozen. If it’s not, just peel, slice it into smaller pieces, and pop it in the freezer for the next day. I like to always keep some frozen banana pieces on hand so they’re ready whenever I need them.

For the recipe you’ll need:

Crushed ice

Full-fat coconut milk (or your favorite nut milk)

Frozen banana

Pumpkin puree (I use Farmer’s Market Organic Pumpkin)

Pure maple syrup

Cinnamon

Ginger

This Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is cozy and creamy, but if you’re craving something bright and fruity, give my Golden Sunrise Smoothie a try. It’s packed with anti-inflammatory goodness from wild blueberries, an apple, mango, and peaches.

Did You Know? 🌿

Pumpkin isn’t just good for pie and smoothies — the seeds are little powerhouses too. I add raw pumpkin seeds to my daily healing smoothie because they’re packed with:

Antioxidants that help protect your cells from damage

Fiber to support gut health (so important in MS!)

Zinc for immunity and overall healing

For anyone living with MS, these nutrients can help calm inflammation, support your nervous system, and give your body an extra boost. Just a small handful a day can make a difference.

Looking for an anti-inflammatory smoothie for MS that’s both refreshing and healing? This vibrant blend is one of my all-time favorites, and for good reason. It’s packed with juicy mango, sweet peaches, wild blueberries, crisp apple, and a gentle boost of veggies you won’t even taste (promise!).

With flaxseeds for omega-3s, a touch of ginger for inflammation, and optional coconut water for hydration, this smoothie is a delicious way to nourish your body and feel good from the inside out. Whether you’re managing MS or just want to feel your best, this one’s a keeper.

Looking for another refreshing way to stay hydrated? Try my Strawberry Lemonade Herbal Cooler, made with hibiscus tea, fresh strawberries, and lemon for a naturally refreshing drink.

The mango-peach combo is pure magic – it creates this luscious, almost dessert-like sweetness that’s incredibly satisfying. Mango and peaches are both naturally creamy fruits with complementary flavors that blend into something that tastes like a gourmet smoothie you’d pay lots of money for at a fancy juice bar.

The blueberries add the perfect contrast – they provide little bursts of tartness that balance the sweetness and make every sip interesting. Wild blueberries especially have this intense, almost wine-like flavor that elevates the whole drink.

The apple adds crisp freshness that brightens everything up, while the cucumber and zucchini create this incredibly smooth, creamy texture that people won’t be able to identify but will absolutely love.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this smoothie ahead of time?
This anti-inflammatory smoothie for MS is best enjoyed fresh, right after blending, since the texture and flavor are at their peak. If you need to prep ahead, you can wash and portion the fruits and veggies the night before and store them in the fridge, then blend fresh in the morning.

What can I substitute for the leafy greens?
Baby kale or romaine both work well if spring mix isn’t available. If you’re sensitive to histamines, stick with milder greens like spring mix or romaine rather than spinach.

Is this smoothie safe for someone newly diagnosed with MS?
This recipe uses simple, whole-food ingredients that are generally well tolerated, but everyone’s body responds differently. As always, it’s a good idea to run any new dietary changes by your healthcare provider first.

Can I use a regular blender instead of a high-speed one?
Yes, a regular blender will still get the job done — you may just need to blend a bit longer, and chop the apple and cucumber into smaller pieces first to help things along.

How can I make this smoothie higher in protein?
Stir in a scoop of your favorite unflavored or vanilla protein powder, or add a tablespoon of hemp seeds, which blend in smoothly and add a nice nutty note.

Make it creamy: The cucumber and zucchini add incredible creaminess without dairy

Prep ahead: Wash and cube fruits the night before, and store in the fridge (or use frozen fruit)

Serving suggestion: Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture

Frozen fruit will work perfectly in this smoothie. They might even make it better because they help make the smoothie thicker, and there’s no need to add ice. Plus, they’re already prepped and ready to blend, saving you time and energy. The frozen fruits will help mask the vegetables even more because of the thicker, more dessert-like texture they create. Your smoothie will taste like a tropical sorbet!

If you’re looking for an easy way to support your health, this anti-inflammatory smoothie for MS is a simple place to start—delicious, nourishing, and easy to blend into your routine.
