Just a heads-up: This post may include affiliate links. I only share what I use and believe in. Read my full disclosure. 🌿

Bowl of leafy greens for MS healing

Hey there! Welcome to Nourish and Heal Week 2 for multiple sclerosis (MS)! First, give yourself a huge pat on the back. You made it through Week 1 – that’s a massive win. You’ve started building that foundation with flaxseeds, water, and leafy greens for MS recovery. These greens, along with cruciferous vegetables, are already helping your body heal from the inside out.

Did you miss week 1? This post will help you catch up and stay on track with your healing journey:

This Week’s Mission: More Greens, More Healing

This week, we’re turning up the volume on those leafy greens. Even a single serving of leafy greens for MS supports your healing process. If you’re feeling good, let’s bump up to 5-6 cups daily. Sound like a lot? Don’t worry – I’ve got a super simple trick that makes this doable for anyone!

The Easiest Way to Get Leafy Greens for MS: Smoothies!

Smoothies are a great way to get more leafy greens for MS without cooking. This is my favorite way of consuming leavy greens. Add 5-6 cups of spinach or other leafy greens to your morning smoothie! After adding sweet fruit, you won’t even taste it, I promise!

Mix in:

  • 5-6 cups of spinach, kale, or mixed greens
  • 1 banana or 1 cup of berries
  • 1 cup plant milk, water, or coconut water
  • Your daily flaxseeds
  • A touch of cinnamon or vanilla

Blend it up, and boom – you’ve already knocked out your greens for the day without munching through a giant salad!

I use an older Blendtec that’s no longer made, but any strong blender can help. Here’s one similar to mine on Amazon if you’re looking for something reliable.

Why Leafy Greens for MS Are So Important

Let’s talk about why these leafy greens for MS matter so much. According to the National MS Society, nutrition plays an important role in managing symptoms.

  1. They feed your nerves. Leafy greens are packed with B vitamins and folate that your nervous system craves. These nutrients help repair myelin. That’s the protective coating around your nerves that MS damages.
  2. They fight inflammation. The antioxidants in greens help calm the fires of inflammation in your body. Less inflammation means fewer flare-ups and symptoms.
  3. They cleanse your body. Greens help your body clear out toxins that can make MS symptoms worse. Think of them as your internal housekeepers!
  4. They boost your energy. Iron, magnesium, and all those nutrients give you natural energy – something we can all use more of!

Keeping It Real: Making This Doable

Living with MS means some days are harder than others. I get it. I’ve been living with MS for over 40 years! Here’s how to make this greens goal work for you:

  • Prep ahead: Wash and store greens in containers with paper towels to keep them fresh. To make it easier, buy premixed bags.
  • Smoothies: Add your daily greens to one big smoothie. Make it in the morning. Sip on it throughout the day. Easy and done!
  • Greens with everything: Add a handful to soups, steamed veggies, or stir-fry’s.
  • One big salad: Have one large salad daily and you’re most of the way there.

On days when MS fog makes things harder, just grab your prepared greens and toss them in whatever you’re eating. No complicated recipes needed!

Your Body Is Already Changing

Right now, with every bite of greens, your cells are getting what they need to start healing. Your brain fog might start lifting. Your energy might tick up a notch. Your inflammation might be cooling down.

Even if you don’t feel dramatic changes yet, trust that good things are happening inside. Your body notices every single positive choice you make.

From Last Week to Next Week

Remember last week when you took that brave first step? You started feeding your cells with good nutrition. This week, we’re building on that foundation with more of the healing greens your body craves.

And next week? Get ready to boost those cruciferous veggies! We’ll talk about how broccoli and cauliflower help your body. They support detox and rebuilding. They’re like the cleanup crew that prepares the way for deeper healing!

Today’s Mindset Moment

Your body feels EVERY positive choice. Every single leaf of spinach, every sip of water, every flaxseed – they all add up. This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about giving your body more of what helps and less of what hurts.

You’ve got this! I believe in you, and your body believes in you too.

With hope and healing. 🧡
