A red barn at sunset welcomes you to start here on your journey to heal from MS naturally.

Hi, I’m so glad you’re here.

If you’re living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and feeling overwhelmed, I get it. MS brings a lot of uncertainty, including symptoms like fatigue, pain, and brain fog. It also causes frustration that no one really understands unless they’ve lived it.

But here’s something I wish someone had told me earlier:
There is hope. And you can start feeling better, one small step at a time.

I’ve had MS for over 40 years! While I can’t promise a cure, I can share what has helped me live a better, calmer life. I’ve been managing my MS naturally since 2004, and I’m still here, still walking, still living my life.

Start here if you’re ready to take small steps toward healing. This page is where I share how to start healing from MS, one step at a time.

This blog is where I share what’s worked for me. Everyone is different, so don’t get discouraged if something doesn’t work the same for you. But if you’re loading your body up with nutrients, you’re giving it the tools it needs to heal.

Why I Chose to Manage MS Naturally

My first MS symptom was optic neuritis, I went completely blind in my left eye. I was just 15 years old. Back then, I didn’t fully understand what MS was. The years that followed were full of fear and confusion as my MS symptoms continued to get worse.

I eventually started one of the MS interferons as I continued to get worse, and a chemo drug. But instead of helping, they made me feel worse. I had more flares, more side effects, and more stress. In 2004, I had a severe flare that left me feeling like I had a stroke. I knew something had to change.

That’s when I turned to food and lifestyle. I started learning about healing foods, reducing inflammation, and creating routines that support my body. Within a year, I felt a noticeable difference, and I never looked back.

Since then, I’ve managed my MS without any drugs. I still have a few symptoms, like numbness in my feet, and I’m still working on reversing that. But I’ve also reversed some of my worst symptoms, including heat intolerance. It used to take me hours to recover from even a little heat. Today, I’ve built a life I enjoy, one where I don’t let stress get to me. I love my life, my family, and living in the country. I’m sharing everything here so you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Start Here: 4 Important Healing Habits

If you’re not sure where to begin, start here. These are the four habits that helped me the most in the beginning—and they still help today.

1. Eat More Veggies

I focus on whole plant foods, especially leafy greens. I also include plenty of cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli. These foods help fight inflammation and support your body at the cellular level.

Today, I aim for:

  • 8-10 cups of leafy greens per day
  • 3+ cups of cruciferous veggies
  • A rainbow of other vegetables

2. Drink More Water

Dehydration can make symptoms worse. Water helps your brain, muscles, and nervous system recover. I drink 75+ ounces of water daily, including coconut water and herbal teas. I sip slowly and use an app with a timer to remind myself throughout the day.

Drinking lots of water can be hard, especially if you struggle with bladder issues. But I can’t stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated. If you’re not drinking enough, your body will have a much harder time trying to heal.

According to the CDC, staying hydrated is essential for brain and body function. Staying hydrated can feel hard, but you’re not alone. Here’s my full guide on simple ways to drink more water every day.

3. Don’t be afraid to eat fruit.

For years, I avoided fruit because I believed it was too high in sugar, only eating low-sugar fruits like berries, green apples, lemons, and limes. But I’ve since learned that fruit is extremely healing. It’s packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, and important phytonutrients that help your body repair and fight inflammation. While it’s important to eat a variety of fruits, focus most of your plate on vegetables (especially leafy greens and cruciferous veggies) and let fruit be your sweet, nourishing support.

4. Add Omega-3s

This is a simple way to get plant-based omega-3s without expensive supplements.

Omega-3 fatty acids support the nervous system. They also help protect the myelin sheath — the part of your nerves that MS attacks. I didn’t start out using flaxseeds. My functional medicine provider was the first to recommend them, and even then, I only took one tablespoon a day.

For years, I also took six large omega-3 capsules daily — until I got tired of the cost and the hassle of swallowing them. That’s when I started adding more flaxseeds to my diet. Now I use about 1/2 cup of fresh ground flaxseed every day. This also lines up with the Overcoming MS (OMS) diet (which recommends flaxseed oil), but I choose flaxseeds instead. They cost less and they include fiber and nutrients.

You’re Not Alone

I know how hard MS can be. There are days it feels like everything is falling apart. But you don’t have to do this alone. I’ve spent years learning how to live a calmer, more nourishing life and I want to share it with you.

Whether you’ve just been diagnosed or you’ve had MS for years, it’s never too late to start making changes.

What matters is that you keep going and don’t be hard on yourself. Negative talk can slow down healing, but kindness helps your body feel safe and supported. Be gentle with yourself, you’re doing the best you can.

You can live a beautiful, meaningful life with MS.
You can feel better.
